Abstract

Production Unit Jakarta is one of the lubricant production units owned by PT Pertamina Lubricants. The production process of lubricating oil is inseparable from several obstacles, including the high production downtime during the process of filling lubricating oil into the packaging. The impact of this downtime is the emergence of additional costs such as man power and utilities. In addition, other obstacles are material defects and inventory issues. The average lithos filling downtime during the Jan-Sept 2024 period is 14 working days or 1-2 days per month for each line with a reject rate of 0.17%. The purpose of this study is to analyze the production process that has an impact on the occurrence of waste. This research uses the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) Method supported by Value Stream Mapping Analysis Tools (VALSAT) and has been used as one of the alternative solutions to solve problems related to waste. And the tools used are Process Activity Mapping, Supply Chain Response Matrix and Quality Filter Mapping. The results showed a decrease in production downtime by 13%, a decrease in reject rate by 0.04%, a reduction in sampling waiting time by 61% thanks to the implementation of a satellite lab, a reduction in process cycle time by 1.83 seconds, and an increase in daily output by 30.17%. However, this study also identified an anomaly of the increase in defects in the type of Erector Tear Cardboard defect that requires further investigation. The managerial implications of this study emphasize the success of improvement initiatives in improving overall efficiency and production capacity, but also require a more in-depth analysis of the specific issues that arise.
